JON BATISTE - Lean On My Love | music video
For this video, my friend David reached out to me to do some animation as part of the next instalment in his ongoing collaboration with the American musician and composer Jon Batiste.
Loosely inspired by the work of Keith Haring , we tried to create a sweet and uplifting visual add-on to the beautiful footage David & Edson intended to shoot. After a couple of tryouts, I came up with a workflow that combined hand-drawn lines animated frame by frame in Procreate & Dreams on my iPad, and finishing touches in Aftereffects, per usual.
As the project evolved, we ended up reducing the amount of animation to better serve the story and honor the good people of Altadena & Pasadena who accepted to take part in this. You can support at www.thelegacylandproject.org
